Post Treatment Aftercare Instructions
Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a popular skin treatment that exfoliates the outer layer of dead skin cells, leaving your skin smoother and more radiant. Aftercare is important to ensure proper healing and to maximize the benefits of the treatment. Here's a helpful aftercare guide:
Immediately After Treatment
- Expect some redness or sensitivity: This is normal and usually fades within a few hours to a day.
- Avoid touching your face too much: Your skin is more sensitive, so keep your hands clean and away from your face.
- Use a gentle cleanser: Wash your face with a mild, non-abrasive cleanser. Avoid products with alcohol, fragrance, or exfoliants.
Sun Protection
- Avoid direct sun exposure for 1–2 weeks.
- Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher daily: Even if you’re indoors or it's cloudy. Your skin is extra sensitive to UV rays after microdermabrasion.
Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize
- Keep your skin hydrated with a rich, non-comedogenic moisturizer.
- You may need to apply more frequently than usual, especially in the first 2–3 days.
Avoid for a Few Days
- Makeup: Best to skip it for at least 24 hours to let your skin breathe.
- Active ingredients: Avoid products with retinol, AHAs/BHAs, vitamin C, and benzoyl peroxide for about 3–5 days.
- Exfoliating: Don't use scrubs or exfoliants for at least a week.
- Heat and sweating: Avoid hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, and intense workouts for 24–48 hours.
Healing Tips
- Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
- Use cool compresses if your skin feels warm or irritated.
- If peeling occurs, do not pick at your skin—this can cause scarring or irritation.
